Brodie has acted in numerous complex construction disputes involving payment claims, adjudications under the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act 2017, subcontractor’s charges, defective work claims, delay and variation disputes, and QBCC regulatory issues. His experience extends across matters involving major contractors, emerging subcontractors, developers, private clients and professional services firms. He regularly appears in the Supreme, District and Magistrates Courts of Queensland and has guided clients through contested hearings, urgent applications, adjudications, mediation and other negotiated resolutions.

He has acted in matters ranging from:

A $42 million construction adjudication—one of the most voluminous ever run in New Zealand;

Multi-party commercial litigation in the Supreme Court of Queensland;

QBCC recovery actions under the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act; and

Urgent applications including Mareva orders, Anton Piller orders, and injunctive relief.

Brodie has led large teams of lawyers, expert witnesses and support staff, and is known for his ability to distil complexity into a focused, winning case strategy.
Before establishing Roberts Litigation, Brodie developed his expertise at two highly regarded Queensland disputes practices, progressing rapidly from solicitor to Senior Associate and being entrusted with the carriage of significant matters at an early stage in his career. He is known for his ability to quickly identify key issues, simplify complex fact patterns, and develop strategies that are both legally sound and commercially realistic. His approach is marked by responsiveness, precision and a strong focus on achieving efficient outcomes.
Brodie is also recognised within the construction industry for his accessibility and practical guidance. He works closely with builders, subcontractors and related professionals, offering early risk assessment, contract review insights and strategic advice designed to prevent disputes or resolve them with minimal disruption to commercial operations.
